Waka / Reading Active Learning

For reading Active Learning I made a Waka. First I had two thick sticks. after that I got 8 ice block sticks and hot glued them to my thick sticks to create my hull. When I was finished I got two Skewers and hot glued them into the hull then I got a piece of paper and shaped it into a sail. Lastly I designed my sail then I hot glued it to the skewers.

What was easy and what was hard:
Hard: Gluing the sails because it was very hard because the paper was thin.
Easy: Gluing the Ice block sticks because the sticks were thick.

Water Drop / Word Cloud

One of my Active Learning activities was making a word cloud. I used words that needed water. For instance, washing because you need water for washing. After I did that, I made my word art into a shape of a water drop.

6 Sentence Story

For writing this week, we wrote a 6 sentence story. This is about my trip to my cousin's rugby game.

"Brrrr," I said as the cold drafty rain splattered on me.

I was dressed in my warm puffy clothes and my family did the same.

We were going to play rugby on the farm field.

As we got there, I saw my cousin playing tackle rugby.

"Try," the referee said as the opposing team got a try while my cousin was losing 7-56.

When my cousin came out, he was really disappointed and sad that he lost.

Active Learning - Cooking

For Active learning this term I have been in the cooking group. We made recipes that were based on bread.
Session one we made bread rolls that looked like hedgehogs. It turned out to be really good and I loved doing it.
Session two we made bread cases which would be good to eat at lunch time It turned out to be yum and fun I enjoyed it. Session three we made french stick pizza which would be good to eat at dinner time. It was delicious and turned out to taste like a real pizza and I loved it. Session four we made bread and butter pudding. It turned out amazing and it was fantastic doing it.
Over the sessions one thing I found easy was cracking and egg and chopping things up.
Over the sessions one thing I found hard was sliding the tomato sauce onto the bread.
We made a recipe book to print out and take home to our families.
Here is a link to mine Recipes

Acrostic Poem-Contract

For one of my contracts I created an acrostic poem about the King Of The Jungle / Lion. First we opened a new google drawing to get started. We wrote the title which was KING of the Jungle. After that we went down and describe the lion only using the words KING of the jungle.

For inquiry we carried out a science experiment. Here it is.

Nathan's Prediction:I think that the suns heat will reflect onto the plastic bag and will shine into the water and make it turn into steam and it will go onto the plastic. Then it will will fall back down and will turn back into water.

What you need:
Snap lock Bag
Blue dye

What you do:
1.Draw a mountain with water and clouds on your Snap lock bag.
2.Fill the Snap lock bag with the water just up to how high your water is.
3.Add blue dye to make it look like ocean water
4.Tape your Snap lock bag onto a window.
5.WAIT 2 days then check what happened to it.

The water in the bag turned into water vapor, condensation. The water droplets got heavy and fell down , precipitation. It is called on the mountain and into the rivers and ocean. The cycle starts again

My prediction was close to being right!

Stop Motion Movie!

In class we have been learning about our Te Reo Maori greetings. For Te Reo Maori we made a stop motion movie.

First we got a sheet with different greetings and farewells then after that we got to choose our characters for our movie.

After we got in groups and took lots of photos for our movie. When we moved the characters we had to move them gently and just a little bit. When the characters got close enough we cut out the different greetings and put them over their heads when they were done we put a farewell over their head.
After that we got to edit our movie like add in a title, change the speed and cropping. When we finished we showed the teacher to see if it was good or not. She said that it was good, it was approved by her and put on Youtube.

Be A Teacher

I would want to teach my family how to play cricket so we can go to the park that's across the road from us and play there. Earlier this year, before COVID-19, I was playing cricket and I did very well!

I want to teach everyone who is part of my family! :)

I want to teach my family how to run between the wickets, hit the ball correctly and also teach them all the rules on how to play cricket.

I showed kindness last year. We were putting the school bikes away at the end of the day. When they were all locked away and all the boys went back inside the classroom except for Kini and I. We helped our teacher Mr Dobbin put away the basketball hoops. Mr Dobbin asked us where did all the other boys go? We said they went back inside the classroom as they thought they had finished all the jobs. Mr Dobbin said they just wanted to do the bikes and nothing els. He was really grateful that we stayed after the bell to do the other school jobs. Mr Dobbin said thank you boys for helping me put away the basketball hoops.

Proud Moment

It was the new year of 2019. I had just walked into my new class room. I was very nervous. I could barely get through the week. On my second week I was AMAZED. During our first ever assembly of the year I was one of the certificate winners. I couldn't believe it, that I didn't even hear my name being called out. Someone had to tell me to go up. Everyone was cheering. I was so happy and proud to receive a certificate.

During lockdown I made a tower that was taller than me. My tower is tall and it took many attempts to try and build because it kept on falling, but I managed to do it. These are the things I used to build my tower.

1.cushions x3
2.paper towel rolls x2
4.tissue box
5.shoe box

Mini Golf Active Learning

For Active learning we drew a mini golf track because after playing it we needed to build one. On the piece of paper that we drew on we labeled the materials so that we knew what we had to build it out of. The teachers voted on what mini golf track we were gonna be built. The one that was chosen was the one that was built. My one was not chosen but this is what it looked like.

The LOCATOR can tell navigators their exact location. It is very useful because you can also call people when you are in trouble and in the need of help. The locator is water proof so that if it´s sinking you will still be able to call for help. It will also help people if they are lost because the locator can also tell the way back to cities and houses.

I used a website called Be Funky. I had to use the website to be creative and change colours of the photos of my self. It was a way the artists Andy Warhol does his artwork. It was a very fun experience to do this .

For my contract I took photos of the letters in my name outside
with one of the school cameras. It was very fun to get to experience this but it was very hard to find letters in my name outside and try and get the same camera every day but I enjoyed doing this. Here are the photos I took of the letters of my name.

Tasting Our Class Made Butter

On Wednesday the class made butter. The next day the teacher brought  mini pikelets so we could eat it. There was also jam but I
didn't want any. It tasted yummy.
This is how we made the butter.  We put cream into a jar and we shook it when the lid was on. It was fun making the butter.
